EVITA

The program of the 2010 edition’s of the Opera Festival in Florence consists of five beautiful and unmissable evenings with one of the most acclaimed musicals of the last decades: EVITA libretto by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, directed by Bill Kenwright, the musical will take place on the gorgeous stage of the Florence’s Giardino di Boboli (Boboli Garden).
The Giardino di Boboli is absolutely one of the Florence’s artistic treasures and it is usually seen as a true outdoor museum; it is considered an natural continuation of Palazzo Pitti and its courtyard, a magnificent opera by Bartolomeo Ammannati. Back in 1550, Palazzo Pitti became a private property of the Medici family, the Grand Dukes of Tuscany, who made it their royal palace during their two-century rule. The Medici family has dedicated a lot of time to the creation and embellishment of their garden, famous for its authentic botanic heritage, architectural and sculptural works of art, for these reasons indeed is the best worldwide example of the famous Italian garden.

The EVITA musical is one of the most famous and acclaimed theater shows, it has been performed for almost ten years in London’s West End theatres later to become a very successful Oscar awarded film, where the main roles were played by the Hollywood stars Madonna and Antonio Banderas. The EVITA musical offers the possibility to relive the amazing and charismatic figure of Maria Eva Duarte de Peron, president Juan Peron’s wife, so much loved and venerated by the Argentine people, whose story is told by the exceptional testimonial: Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, more often than not known as Che Guevara. Songs like ”Don’t Cry for me Argentina”, “On This Night of a Thousand Stars”, “Oh What a Circus”, “You Must Love Me” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” has became the most famous songs of all times. This famous musical, which you can admire in the splendid framework of Florence, is made of a cast of over twenty performers, accompanied by an incomparable orchestra.
